In 1992, billionaire third-party candidate Ross Perot replied during a debate “If someone spreads hate on stage, pull them off.” Such a response contributed to everyday, working class Americans identifying with Perot’s principles and granting him their vote. Undoubtedly, persuasive rhetoric can make or break any political candidate. A good political argument frequently taps into the values and historical pictures of society.
