Two European dictators shaped European political history through a critical mid-20th century period leading up to the end of W.W. II. What forces shaped the personalities and careers of Hitler and Mussolini, and how did these careers lead to their partnership in the Axis alliance?  Why did they succeed in gaining political power, and why did they fail as wartime leaders?  What traits did they share, and how were they different? This class will explore two of the most heinous figures of the 20th century.
