Julius Rosenwald rose from an immigrant door-to-door salesman to becoming the President of Sears, Roebuck and Co. He amassed a significant fortune and supported education, arts, sciences and culture by using his wealth to fund over 5000 schools for black children in the South and by providing scholarships to Black artists, musicians, and other professionals. Little is known about this great philanthropist because most of his giving was done quietly. In this course we will look at the life and legacy of a brilliant businessperson and impressive humanist.
