Instructor: Dave Tarrant Aviation and Automotive

This two-part class charts the history of aviation as it developed rapidly between Charles Lindbergh’s famous flight to Paris in 1927 and the start of the postwar period in 1946. During this time, the foundation of modern aviation was firmly laid, particularly that of commercial air travel. Part I covers the emergence of airlines and significant technical developments that enabled safer, faster air travel, as well as the evolution of warplanes that were to become devastatingly effective weapons in the coming war.

About the Presenter: Dave Tarrant has been a student of aviation all of his life, starting as a childhood hobby. He is an accomplished researcher, writer and teacher of aviation history, as well as related topics, including military history and the history of technology. He is also a certified private pilot and has been an officer in his flying club for over a decade. After a career in the automotive industry, Dave has served in numerous other nonprofit and charitable organizations and now leads the MORE program at Macomb Community College.
