In a 2020 Wheat & Tares blog, a podcast named “The Orange Wave” was examined. The original “orange wave” references the Evangelical (and surprisingly progressive) boom in 1960s Orange County, California. Over time, Evangelicals spread or developed across America and became a base of modern Right-Wing politics. While the current podcast centers on the social structure within the movement today, it also highlights often unknown common roots between Evangelicals and Mormons and the misunderstood belief that Democrats aren’t Evangelicals. We’ll consider all of the aforementioned and tie in with Douglas A. Sweeney’s, The American Evangelical Story: A History of the Movement.
