Colored hand-painted tiles have decorated Portuguese buildings as far back as the 13th Century CE, when the Moors invaded the land that now belongs to Spain and Portugal. In this learning activity, we will examine hundreds of Azulejo patterns, their history and connection to culture, and conclude by constructing our own ‘wall’ from Portugeuese tile scrapbook paper.
